Bathroom Vanity Sink Installation - Project Overview
Our team recently completed a successful bathroom vanity sink replacement project for homeowners in Valley Center, located just next to Escondido. The beautiful mountain views provided a stunning backdrop as we worked to solve what other service companies had deemed impossible.
The Challenge - Matching the Undermount Sink Color
The homeowners needed to replace their undermount sink but were concerned about finding a matching replacement for their second vanity. Multiple service companies had previously told them the job couldn't be done, leaving them frustrated and without options.
We started off this job by prepping the floor and dropping some drop cloths in the areas that we were going to be working. And then after we did that, we already got our tools. Now we wouldn't be going in and out of the house. Once that was set, we started by removing the drain from underneath the sink.
Once we removed the drain, what we did was I used the strap and the screwdriver. I put the strap through the sink, screwdriver at the bottom, and I strapped it to the faucet so we can cut out the plywood, the wood shims that were holding the sink in place. Once we cut those out, we went ahead and cut the caulking, the silicone caulking between the granite countertop and the vanity sink, right? So once we cut all the caulking, then we released the strap and the sink was completely loose. At that point, we went ahead and started taking apart the faucet. So we removed the faucet, cleaned everything up. And then we did a dry fit with the new sink.
And we put it up into the area where it was going to fit and see if it did. And it was a snug fit. It was a little bit, the bowl itself was a little bit off center, but it still fit. So we went ahead and put adhesive silicone caulking on the sink. And we pushed it up, and then we braced it the same way. We put the strap in there. and put a piece of wood up on the top, a screwdriver on the bottom, and it held it in place, you know, so we can tie it in with the wooden pieces underneath that are going to support the new sink.
Once we were done, we released the strap, sink was up, and we begun to install the faucet. When we were doing the drain, we found out that the drain was no longer centered. So we had to remove the old drain and install the new compression slip-on type. And once we did that, everything was good to go. On the second vanity, we just replaced the faucet itself, the faucet and the pop-up, you know, but not the sink.
Customer was ecstatic. So before I even went, before, so we talked to them before we started and I let them know that once I removed the sink, you know, I'd bring them in, but I didn't. What I did was I went ahead and started putting the sink up because I saw that it was gonna fit, right? What the determination was, they wanted to determine whether they were going to have to replace a second sink for it to match. But this one matched so good that they didn't need it. In one of the pictures, you see that the box is still in between the sinks.
So we never put the second vanity sink in. The customer was extremely happy because it was a perfect match. And they didn't think it was possible because they had already called other service companies to come out and they told them that it couldn't be done.
And between my help and the homeowners, we were able to find the sink bowl that best fit and get them back up and running. And they were ecstatic. Well, um, what ended up happening after we got done, they were so happy and stuff.
And we're talking and I said, look, um, if you guys don't mind walking me out, I want to point out a couple of things to you guys. And I don't know if you guys have seen this, you know, and I'm not trying to sell you guys anything. I just want to point out a couple of things to you. I don't know if you you've noticed, but when I was walking in here, I noticed that you guys are starting to have wood rot around your windows. You know, that was a huge, beautiful single story home, but up on top, they have a, you know, they have kind of like these windows on the roof, you know, like in the old style homes and the trim around the window, it already had wood rot.
You know, so I brought to their attention that, you know, that could be another project here in the near future. And that the home was already in need of exterior painting, you know, and I showed them the, you know, where it was basically drying up at. So, you know, what we have in the near future, we'll be having to go back and do some more work for them. So that's pretty cool.
And this was all in the city of Valley Center, right next door to Escondido. where they had beautiful mountains and views.
